Volunteer/Events

BVHMparents

Show your children that you value their education and help make BVHM the school you want it to be. Volunteering is king at BVHM, and there an plenty of ways to get involved.

Kermes: Part fundraiser, ALL good times, Kermes is our annual school carnival and community party in the Fall (usually October) with food, music, carnival games, and dancing. This is one of the most popular events for our students, particularly when it coincides with Sunday Streets. Ready to help? Contact Megan Laurence, megelaur@gmail.com

Room Parents: Every classroom teacher needs a pair of room parents to provide a link between teachers and families. Room Parents are essential to make sure that teachers have the resources they need in the classroom, and to keep families informed about upcoming events and class assignments. Ready to help? La Gran Pachanga: An adults-only Spring evening of music, food and drink, and art. This event also includes our live, silent, and online auctions, which together are one of our largest fundraising opportunities for the year. Ready to help? Contact Johanna Lopez Miyaki, jlomiyaki@gmail.com

Read-a-thon: A month-long celebration of literacy and reading with fun events like Pajama Night and Family Literacy Night. BVHM loves reading, and the focus here is on turning off the TV and helping our kids achieve weekly reading goals. Families also ask those interested in their child’s education donate dollars for every book they read to help incentivise reading and to raise funds for our school. Ready to help? Contact Vivian Barad, vbarad@gmail.com

Carnaval and BBQ: This is an award-winning event at BVHM! Support our performing arts teachers as they lead a float of musicians and dancers in the annual Carnaval Parade, Memorial Day weekend. Students in 2nd grade and above are encouraged to participate in the parade. Ready to help? Contact Megan Laurence, megelaur@gmail.com

School Tours: Help welcome prospective BVHM families and show them around the school. Tours usually take place in January. Ready to help? Contact Kristen Clarke, kristen1clarke@gmail.com

Family Movie Nights: Pizza, popcorn and your favorite movies in the auditorium. These events are very casual and very affordable nights out for the whole family. Ready to help? Contact Megan Laurence, megelaur@gmail.com
